Phase 3 - Tying Frame Rails Together
With the panels all installed and welded, the next step was to tie the subframe to the rear unibody
frame rails. Several companies make frame connectors, but they were not as good or as strong as the way
I did this car's connectors. Later, when we do the roll cage, you will see how important these rails
become. I cut the layered floor sections out all the way to the rear frame sections. I then cut the
floor pans so the new connectors would fit in them. I welded the new connectors inside the floor sections
and to the rear frame, the floor panels and to the sub-frame. Basically this completes a total frame
from front to rear.
We are done with the underside welding, so the next step is getting some good zinc
primer on the underside and bare metal parts.
